1. What kind of disc do you supply?
We normally record on a disc format called DVD-R (DVD minus R) which we have found to be the most compatible with both stand alone DVD players and DVD drives in computers. We can also produce a format called DVD+R (DVD plus R) which occasionally works when DVD-R doesn't.

2. How compatible are DVD-R and DVD+R discs?
DVD-R has proved to be the most compatible, working in approximately 85% of DVD players whereas DVD+R works in approximately 70%. Neither format is 100% compatible. You would have to have your DVD commercially produced at a cost of £1000s and even when processed this way they occasionally have hiccups. Generally speaking DVD-R will work on most machines made over the last 4 years or so. If you're still unsure and want to check then call us.

3. Are the discs region coded?
Our discs carry no region code so will play on any PAL machine ie. Europe and Australia NOT the USA, Canada or Japan who use a television format called NTSC.

4. Do I need to take any precautions to protect my disc?
DVD-R discs are more susceptible to scratches and dust but with careful handling will last a lifetime.

You should never touch the underside of the disc, hold it by the edges and the hole in the centre.
Always return it to the case after playing.
Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources eg. never leave on the window ledge
If you have children in the house then we would strongly recommend that you either have a second copy to keep in a safe place or take out our insurance; little fingers seem to be able to get everywhere!

If you follow these simple rules then you will have no problems.

5. How long does it take?
You can expect your disc in approximately 25 working days if it's a video transfer - usually less. If the disc contains stills then they can take longer due to the scanning process so this will depend on the number of images. We will try to advise you when we receive your order. We will always get in touch if there are any delays with your order.

6. How do I send my pictures?
If you are sending photographs then they should be loose (not in frames or albums) with a number on the back so they are in the order you wish them to appear; be careful when writing on the back so as not to damage the photograph. You also need to specify which images are in which group for the transfer eg. 1-15 - Holiday, 16-55 - Wedding. See our Postage section for packaging.

Slides again need to be numbered, usually in the front top right hand corner, in the correct order for the DVD. Again see our Postage section for packaging.

7. Can you copy films, either purchased or recorded off the television?
We cannot copy material that contains a copyright ie. Commercial films or programmes whether purchased or recorded off the television. We can only transfer material which you have the rights to eg. Home videos or that you have obtained permission to use and can provide documentation to that effect (see our Terms and Conditions).
