About
Us
A few years ago my wife inherited several hundred slides from
her grandfather. They had been sitting in their boxes in the attic
ever since, gathering dust, getting damp, because we have no projector
or screen to view them with. My wife knew they contained a unique
record of her family’s history, and of places and events,
spanning approximately 30 years from the mid-1950s through to the
1980s. Her grandfather used to give an annual slide show, which
would fall around Christmastime, when she and her family would
gather together and look at old favourites as well as new ones
from his latest adventures. She said it was a fabulous way of remembering
times past, a priceless insight into life as it used to be, and
a great way of feeling like you’d been to all of those places
yourself. What a waste to have all those priceless memories and
experiences sitting in some dark, damp corner of the attic!
We were talking about this one day and we suddenly had a brilliant idea, one
which really excited us (and still does), we were suprised we hadn't thought
of it before. Why not use my experience in the video and graphics industry and
turn those slides into a 21st century slideshow,
on a DVD? I could feel the excitement bubbling up inside me and I knew that this
would appeal to a lot of people in our position who have also inherited slides,
or maybe have taken 35mm slides themselves in the past, and who want to be able
to enjoy looking at them again and again.
And so, Visual Memories was born. With over 26 years’ experience in the
video industry
I knew this was the way to go. With this wealth of knowledge at
my disposal I understand what it means to turn something ordinary into something
special.
